SMI and trade unions together for contractual welfare

Welfare in the company was discussed at the Milan meeting between Sistema Moda Italia and the national trade unions Femca-Cisl, Filctem-Cgil and Uiltec.

‘Welfaremoda: contractual welfare that looks to the future’ was the title chosen by the organisers, in collaboration with the bilateral bodies Previmoda and Sanimoda, to draw attention to contractual welfare for workers in the Textile-Clothing-Fashion sector.

And Welfaremoda is precisely the name chosen for the union between Previmoda and Sanimoda, a sign of unity of intent and objectives for the protection of workers in the sector, of which there are about 370,000 nationwide, about 60% of whom are women.

Pension services are currently organised in three areas: supplementary pension provision, provided by Previmoda with about 62. 500 members (the assets currently managed by Previmoda amount to over 1.5 billion euro); life and disability insurance, introduced in 2014 and from which workers enrolled in Previmoda benefit, with a contribution equal to 0.20% of their contractual remuneration; and supplementary healthcare, provided by Sanimoda, from 2018 for around 190,000 members and 30,000 family members, intended to supplement the care guaranteed by the National Health Service.

The fourth area of intervention, agreed between the parties in the last contract renewal, was presented at the conference: protection for non-self-sufficiency, operative from 1 April for all Sanimoda members, presented by partners Zurich and IMA Italia Assistance.

Speakers at the conference included Sergio Tamborini, President of Sistema Moda Italia, Alberto Brambilla, President of the Itinerari Previdenziali Study and Research Centre, Marco Allievi, Head of Corporate, Life and Pensions at Zurich Italia, and Paola Bianchi, Chief Commercial Officer of Ima Italia Assistance.

At the end of the speeches, Simone Spetia, journalist for Radio 24, moderated a round table, exploring welfare issues in the T&A sector and in Italy, with Giovanni Brugnoli, president of Previmoda and vice-president of Confindustria for Human Capital, Gianluca Brenna, president of Sanimoda, Raffaele Salvatoni, national secretary Femca Cisl, Sonia Paoloni, national secretary Filctem Cgil and Benedetta Missaglia, national secretary of Uiltec Uil.
